2008/11/28 Thanksgiving

The tummies are full, the food is put away and the house is quiet.  Three of us sit clicking away on computers.  The thermostat on the oven in this house doesn’t work.  So I put an oven thermometer in it and kept opening the door and adjusting the temperature.  That wouldn’t work, I am sure, for pumpkin pies, but I cooked a couple of apples pies in it, OK.  Couldn’t help but remember those wood stoves back in Appalachia just a “few” years back.  Now that was tricky baking!  I didn’t have to cut any wood.  Now that is something to be thankful for.  We bought a smoked turkey and warmed it up on the grill. mmm good. Most of the side dishes could be fixed on top of the stove.

Karen couldn’t come because she had to work yesterday and tomorrow.  She fixed herself a Cornish Hen.  Her first time for that. Turned out well, she said.  Some friends were having a party tonight and she was going to that.  I will get the report tomorrow.

If I were to make a list of things that I am thankful for, Richard’s deciding to let God be in control of his life would top the list.  But I could go on all night.  I am thankful for indoor plumbing, really thankful for that one!  My husband and children, of course.  My many friends. And family members, both mine and Tim’s. Heat, food, clothes and many material items, but most of all for God’s love and sacrifice for me.

Happy Thanksgiving
